Claims Renewable Energy Manufacturing

Commitment

The source claims the product was manufactured using renewable energy, in whole or part, directly or via purchased certificates.

You might see it written as: made with renewable energy · 100% renewable electricity · solar powered factory · wind powered

Speaks to: Climate health

Medium greenwash risk

Meaningful only with supporting detail — check scope and dates.

Ask: which sites, what share, and bought how?

What backs it up

  • Organizational Sustainability Commitment

Must be at least: Manufacturer declared

Check it states: Energy Scope, Mechanism, Percentage

On-site generation, PPAs, and unbundled RECs are very different strengths of claim.

  • GreenCircle Certified Certificate

Must be at least: Third-party verified

Check it states: Certificate Number, Verified Attribute, Attribute Value, Certified Scope, Valid Until

Only supports this claim when verified_attribute is Renewable Energy Use.

Facility-level renewable energy verification does not lower the product's embodied carbon by itself — that requires an LCA or EPD.
